Webcasts / Healthed Webcast – 18th August 2026
Healthed webcasts are a valuable educational platform, allowing viewers to gain up-to-date clinical knowledge through an easy, time-efficient format. Our free online seminars fill a huge unmet need amongst GPs outside of the major cities for quality, accessible education. Each webcast features four lectures and runs for two hours. While the majority of viewers are GPs, our webcasts are relevant for healthcare professionals including pharmacists and nurses.

Managing Acute Heart Failure After Discharge: A Practical Guide for GPs

Synthetic environmental toxins have been around for decades but their potential for causing harm, especially on human sexual and reproductive health is now being increasingly recognised. In this talk, Dr Terri Foran will discuss the major concerns associated with these ubiquitous compounds that include dioxins, BPAs and phthalates. She will also present the evidence that suggests these toxins might adversely affect the human endocrine system and, importantly what can be done to mitigate this risk and hopefully protect future generations.

Courtesy of new PBS listings, Australian women now have ready access to a greater variety of contraceptive options than ever before, particularly oral contraceptive options. In this talk, Associate Professor Gino Pecoraro will discuss these new options and their unique differentiating features – be it a new oestrogen, a new progestogen or a regimen that offers a different pill-free interval. He will also suggest a framework to help clinicians assess which contraceptive option is likely to be most appropriate for the individual woman, and which factors need to be considered before making such recommendation.

Peptides appear to have taken centre stage when it comes to 'performing enhancing' substances. But what are they? Are they of benefit? Do they cause harm? And are they legal in terms of sport? These are the questions Professor Gary Wittert will answer in this enlightening talk entitled 'the peptide craze'. Importantly, he will also address the issue from the clinician's perspective - how to recognise, assess and manage the patient who may be taking these peptides unadvisedly.

In Australia, over half of all patients who are hospitalised for acute heart failure will find themselves back in hospital within a year. In this talk, Professor Andrew Sindone AM will discuss what can be done to address this alarming statistic. He will outline how heart failure treatment can, and should be optimised post-hospitalisation, and the effect of such optimisation is likely to have on future health outcomes for this highly vulnerable cohort of patients.
